I really can't believe that my daughter, Paige is now attending the university that I went to. NCU is located in Minneapolis, MN and oh the memories I have from those 'glorious' '80's! I loved almost every second of my time there. Some fun, a lot of learning, a few heartaches but mostly warm memories and friends that are closer to me than family.
and now my middle daughter, Paige is there. It was so surreal taking her stuff up those same stairs, opening the dorm room and seeing that same paneling and furniture that filled the rooms ohhhhh so many years before. I am so happy for her and yet if I am totally honest, I feel a little jealous. Does that sound horrible? I would give anything to experience the excitement of starting a new adventure and seeing where God will take me. *sigh* But for now, I will watch from afar (and from Facebook and a Skype date or two) while my little girl spreads her wings. That IS the goal isn't it?
I agree, my college years were probably the best years of my life too and I was so jealous when Ashley went off to Wheaton…I wanted to go back to college! But then I remember that there was a lot of pain during those years too, as a result of personal and spiritual growth. Our minds have a way of forgetting the pain and only remembering the good things to protect us I suppose.
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm glad you want to sit in my 'elderly' chair!
